PAL stops Zamboanga flights

Travel News Asia Date: 28 November 2001

Philippine Airlines has suspended its service to Zamboanga City since Tuesday November 27, until further notice with the closure of the local airport due to the ongoing military operations there.

The Air Transportation Office ordered the shutdown of the Zamboanga International Airport to all commercial and civil air operations, citing the proximity of the firefight between government forces and rebel groups to the runway.

PAL, which flies twice daily to that port city in Southern Philippines, will issue regular advisories regarding flight developments.

Passengers are advised to call PAL Reservations at telephone number 855-8888 or the nearest PAL ticket office for further inquiries.
