SINGAPORE AIRLINES ANNOUNCES SENIOR MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Singapore Airlines today announced that a number of promotions and organisational changes will take place at senior levels of the SIA Group between April and August this year.

The moves and organisational changes are part of the Companys succession planning and career development of senior officers. They also reflect the Groups increased focus on product development and innovation and its alliances and partnerships, particularly those with Virgin Atlantic, Air New Zealand and Ansett Australia and the Star Alliance partner airlines.

In May, two current executive vice-presidents, Mr Michael Tan and Mr Chew Choon Seng, will be promoted to the rank of Senior Executive Vice-President.

Also in May, the current Senior Vice-President Market Planning, Mr Huang Cheng Eng, will be promoted to Executive Vice-President for Marketing and Regions. He will report to Mr Michael Tan. Reporting to Mr Huang will be the Groups regional senior vice-presidents and the retitled position of Senior Vice-President Marketing. Mr Huang will concurrently serve as the head of the marketing division until a new Senior Vice-President Marketing is appointed.

There will also be a series of lateral moves among several existing senior vice-presidents who will assume new responsibilities.

In other promotions, the current Divisional Vice-President Ground Services and Customer Affairs, Mr Ng Chin Hwee, has been promoted to become Acting Senior Vice-President Americas.

Mr Sudheer Raghavan will be promoted from Vice-President Sales and Revenue Management to Divisional Vice-President Customer Services.

As advised separately, Mr Chew Leng Seng will retire as the Chief Executive Officer of the SIA Engineering Company on 1 May. He will be replaced by the current SIA Senior Vice-President Engineering Mr William Tan as the Chief Executive Officer of the subsidiary company. The Chief Operating Officer of the SIA Engineering Company, Mr Mervyn Sirisena, will become the SIA Senior Vice-President Engineering.

AND SIA ENGINEERING DIVISION

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) announced today that Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr Chew Leng Seng will be retiring on 1 May 2001 as the Companys CEO on reaching the retirement age of 62.

Upon his retirement, Mr Chew will continue to serve as a Director on the Board of SIAEC.

Mr William Tan, Senior Vice-President Engineering of Singapore Airlines (SIA), will take over as CEO with effect from 1 May 2001 after a short stint of familiarisation as CEO Designate from 1 April 2001.

Mr William Tan joined SIA Engineering Division in 1978. He served as Assistant Director of Engineering in 1995 and was appointed Senior Vice-President Engineering in July 1999. Mr Tans extensive airline experience, which has contributed to SIAs engineering excellence, will help SIAEC continue its pursuit of growth underpinned by a strong focus on quality and customer service.

Effective 1 April 2001, President & Chief Operating Officer Mr Mervyn Sirisena will return to SIA to assume the position of Senior Vice-President Engineering.

Mr Mervyn Sirisena joined SIA Engineering Division in 1975 and served as SIAECs Deputy General Manager (Maintenance) in 1998. In April 2000, Mr Sirisena was appointed President & Chief Operating Officer of SIAEC. With Mr Sirisenas return to SIA Engineering Division, SIA will be able to benefit from his experience in engineering operations.
