MARRIOTT AND KLM ENHANCE LOYALTY PROGRAM PARTNERSHIP

Travel News Asia Date: 25 April 2001

Now earn UNLIMITED Flying Dutchman points at more than 2,000 Marriott hotels worldwide

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (NYSE:KLM) announced today an enhanced partnership, allowing members of their frequent travel programs to earn an unlimited number of Flying Dutchman points toward free air travel when staying at any of more than 2,000 Marriott hotels worldwide.

The change replaces the previous 300 Flying Dutchman points earned per stay at Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites and Renaissance Hotels only, and links KLM's Flying Dutchman points to U.S. dollars spent at all nine hotel brands that participate in Marriott Rewards.

Effective immediately, Marriott Rewards members designating KLM's Flying Dutchman as their loyalty program of choice will earn:

Three (3) Flying Dutchman points per U.S. dollar spent at:
Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites
Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites
Marriott Conference Centers
Marriott Vacation Club International

And, one (1) Flying Dutchman point per U.S. dollar spent on the room rate only at:

Courtyard by Marriott
Fairfield Inn by Marriott
SpringHill Suites by Marriott
Residence Inn by Marriott
TownePlace Suites by Marriott

In addition, members may convert Marriott Rewards points into Flying Dutchman points at the following rates:

10,000 Marriott Rewards points = 1,500 Flying Dutchman points
20,000 Marriott Rewards points = 3,500 Flying Dutchman points
30,000 Marriott Rewards points = 7,000 Flying Dutchman points
70,000 Marriott Rewards points = 17,500 Flying Dutchman points
125,000 Marriott Rewards points = 35,000 Flying Dutchman points

The enhanced partnership makes Marriott Rewards the only frequent guest program that enables unlimited Flying Dutchman points earned with each stay, and means that members of both programs can earn free travel aboard KLM Royal Dutch Airlines faster than ever.

Founded on October 7, 1919, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the oldest scheduled airline in the world still operating under its original name. At present, the route network of KLM and its partners comprises over 500 cities in 98 countries on six continents. Alliance partners include Northwest Airlines, the Norwegian airline Braathens and Kenya Airways among others. KLM aircraft carry more than 15 million international passengers and approximately 600,000 tons of cargo and mail annually.

"With more than 110 Marriott hotels located along KLM's routes in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe, this partnership provides a valuable opportunity for Marriott Rewards members and Flying Dutchman members alike," said Lynne Roach-Hildebrand, senior vice president of Marriott International loyalty and database marketing.

"It is a pleasure to complement the high-quality service we provide with a quality partner such as Marriott. This improvement gives additional earning opportunities for our members, which will bring them even faster to the exciting range of Flying Dutchman awards available to them," said Lesley McDermott, director of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Loyalty Program.

In addition to KLM Flying Dutchman points, Marriott Rewards points may be redeemed for free hotel stays, Eurostar high-speed train travel, frequent flyer miles, theatre tickets in London, spa and golf packages, cruises, gift certificates, theme park passes, and more.
