CASA DEL MAR, LANGKAWI - MALAYSIA

Travel News Asia Date: 23 July 2001

The latest addition to HPL Hotels & Resorts, Casa del Mar (Spanish for ‘Home by the sea’) is a Mediterranean-styled resort situated at Pantai Cenang beach, Langkawi. The resort is open for business as of 1 July 2001.

The two-storey beachfront resort consists of the main wing with the lobby and restaurant, and three individual blocks with Suites and Deluxe rooms. The signature terracotta exterior is pleasantly complemented with natural landscaping of tropical flora and coconut trees, each carefully planted to further enhance the resort’s graceful façade.

Hotel manager, Mr Krishna Badhur said the boutique resort’s uniqueness lies in its Spanish architecture as well as its concept of re-creating homeliness in a resort environment. “We recognize the growing number of individual travelers who are looking for different holiday options, and Casa del Mar’s distinctive trait is its limited number of rooms, which will ensure our guests of a private and peaceful stay, with service of an anticipatory nature.”

The resort’s 29 cosy rooms include 24 Deluxe rooms, 2 Deluxe Suites, 2 Junior Suites and 1 Royal Suite. All guest rooms are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, ceiling fan, colour TV with cable channels, mini-bar, and hair-dryer. All rooms come with deluxe furnishings and amenities with King or Twin bed options as well as connecting rooms. Set to pamper the individual, each room has a four-feature bathroom with walk-in wardrobe and spa toiletries.

The Dining Room, located at the main wing, has interiors recreated to the splendour of a Californian winery. Guests will be in for a real gastronomic experience where innovative & yet soul satisfying Mediterranean-Japanese fusion cuisine and Asian samplers will be served. The restaurant can house 26 guests for indoor dining and 36 guests for alfresco dining by the pool. A romantic dinner setup by the beach can also be arranged upon request. Diners will be treated to a selection of the finest wines and food options amidst the gentle breeze and the sound of crashing waves.

And for cigar connoisseurs, the Cigar room has a wide selection ready to indulge the individual. One can enjoy brands such as Cohiba, Monte Cristo and San Cristobal, amidst soft-playing Latino music and sips of fine wine.

For those looking to unwind and relax with an evening drink while watching the sunset, the Pool Bar is the ideal spot to satisfy that thirst after a long day.

The Spa, also located at the main wing, offers spa treats for in-house guests or day-pass visitors. Asian-Western fusion treatments can be found in the menu for individuals to customize their day-spa packages. Professionally trained spa therapists will pamper guests with body wraps, facials, body scrubs, foot reflexology and traditional massages. The spa consists of three private treatment rooms, two outdoor spa gazebos, one outdoor Jacuzzi, one steam bath, foot reflexology area, and a sea-facing resting area.

“We aim to provide our guests with the most attentive service throughout their stay,” says Mr Badhur,“ We’d like our guests to feel the intimacy and cosiness of the property by ensuring that all their needs are taken care of by our team of well-trained staff.”

Undoubtedly, the service staff at Casa del Mar is trained to provide personal and yet unobtrusive service such that guests will feel comfortable and pampered during their stay at the resort. Guests can expect to have their stay fully organized by the team of Guest Services Officers from the moment they arrive at the airport.

Conveniently located along Pantai Cenang beach, Casa del Mar offers one the tranquility of a private holiday home by day and subtle gaiety by night through entertainment and dining options. The resort is a 10-minute drive away from Langkawi International Airport. Langkawi Island is easily accessible by air, sea, road and rail. Guests also have quick access to Kuah Town and other tourists’ attractions such as Mahsuri’s Tomb, Rhimba Rekreasi, Lagenda Park and Underwater World, which are only 30 minutes away.
