THE SIXTH ARABIAN TRAVEL MARKET CONFERENCE

Travel News Asia Date: 23 January 2001

The Sixth Arabian Travel Market Conference will be staged in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, in 2001. HE Moshin bin Khamis Al-Balushi, Under Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Tourism commented as follows:

"We are delighted that the SIXTH ARABIAN TRAVEL MARKET CONFERENCE will return to Oman. We look forward to building on the foundations that have been laid in previous years and developing a programme, which will provide the opportunity for education, information and entertainment during the all-to-short event. With some eleven months to go before the event is scheduled to take place, a number of senior figures from the international tourism sector have already been invited and have agreed to participate in what will surely be the most important conference to date."

To provide an overview as to how regional destination marketing works in practice, Michael Youngman of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation and Joe McInerney of the Pacific Asia Travel Association have both agreed to speak of experiences and lessons learned in their respective territories.

The awareness campaign for the conference began at this year's event and at Arabian Travel Market itself and was continued at the E.I.B.T.M. in Geneva.

The full programme for the event is expected to be finalised during the summer to allow a comprehensive promotional campaign to be implemented at the World Travel Market in November.
