SIA LAUNCHES US$1 SINGAPORE STOPOVER SPLENDOUR TO DRAW MORE VISITORS

Singapore Airlines (SIA) today launched an attractive stopover holiday package aimed at boosting Singapore as a leading regional tourism hub and strengthening its position as an international travel gateway.

The Singapore Stopover Splendour offers SIA passengers a night’s accommodation at selected superior class hotels in Singapore from just US$1. The offer also includes discounted entry to a range of Singapore’s leading tourist attractions, including the National Orchid Garden, The Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park, and boat cruises on the Singapore River.

Travelers will also enjoy free transfers to and from Singapore’s Changi airport and unlimited use of the popular SIA Hop-on trolley bus. The new programme is valid from 1 September 2001 to 31 March 2002.

Launching the Singapore Stopover Splendour, SIA Executive Vice President (Marketing and the Regions), Mr Huang Cheng Eng, said, “This package represents a great opportunity to encourage more long-haul visitors to break their travel with a Singapore stopover. It will be a useful tool in our efforts to boost traffic through Singapore from our long-haul markets during this economic slowdown.”

He added: “It will also reinforce the appeal of Singapore as a premier tourist destination in its own right and as a springboard to the region and beyond.”

Singapore Stopover Splendour benefits include:

Accommodation: One night’s accommodation at superior class hotels for US$1 per person, customers may upgrade hotel class or additional nights of accommodation.

Discounted Attractions : 50% off National Orchid Garden entrance fee, 25% discount on admission at Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park, Up to 50% discount on Singapore River Cruises & Leisure and Singapore River Boat.

Transport : Unlimited use of air-conditioned SIA Hop-on bus which travels to major attractions, shopping centres, restaurants and cultural spots, Free transfers to and from Changi airport.
