VANYAVILAS, INDIA’S FIRST LUXURY JUNGLE RESORT OPENS IN RANTHAMBHORE

Travel News Asia Date: 20 November 2001

Adventure and romance are in the air at Vanyavilas, the Oberoi Group’s newest luxury resort adjoining the world famous Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. Ranthambhore is situated between the Aravali and the Vindhya mountain ranges in south-eastern Rajasthan.

Trained guides will accompany visitors to the reserve where frequent tiger sightings are an exciting and unforgettable experience. Visitors to the National Park can also view a variety of other animals such as leopards, jungle cats, sloth bears, crocodiles and several species of deer. The resort organises guided expeditions to the reserve in custom-built four-wheel drive vehicles.

Situated in a grove of fruit and flowering trees, Vanyavilas with its beautifully landscaped grounds presents a serene ambience.

The accommodation consists of spacious and elegantly appointed luxury tents. Each air-conditioned tent has a private deck for sunbathing. A walled garden surrounds each tent, thus ensuring complete privacy. Large bathrooms have freestanding bathtubs and shower stalls.

The restaurant serves fine Indian and Continental cuisine with al fresco dining adjoining the restaurant. In the inner courtyard of the main building, a log fire provides welcoming warmth in winter and is an ideal place for aperitifs or a relaxed after dinner drink. The bar offers a fine selection of wines, spirits and cigars.

Highly personalized attentive and caring staff for which the Oberoi hotels are well known, ensure that guests will have a memorable experience.

Mr. Fateh Singh, a well-known conservationist, will give lectures and show films on wildlife of the region.

The resort offers state-of-the-art-meeting facilities and has a heated outdoor swimming pool.

A special feature of the resort are the private therapy suites. After an adventurous day at the Tiger reserve, guests can pamper themselves with a relaxing massage by trained Thai therapists in a soothing and serene atmosphere.

Ranthambhore has many interesting places nearby. The 1000 year old Ranthambhore Fort within the reserve has a very interesting history. Large water bodies in the reserve attract thousands of migratory birds every year.

The resort can be accessed by air, rail or road. The nearest airport is at Jaipur, 180 kms from Ranthambhore. Sawai Madhopur is on the main railway line between Delhi and Bombay. There is a direct rail link between Sawai Madhopur and Delhi.

Sawai Madhopur is well connected by road to the major cities of Rajasthan.

Guests will be met by an air-conditioned chauffeur driven limousine at Sawai Madhopur railway station or at Jaipur airport.
