SENIOR APPOINTMENTS MADE AT HOLIDAY INN PROPERTIES IN SAUDI ARABIA, EGYPT

A number of senior Holiday Inn appointments have been made in the Middle East including a new regional director of operations in Saudi Arabia, and three general managers each in Saudi, and Egypt.

Atieh Hamarneh, backed by 12 years experience at Holiday Inn hotels, takes charge of operations for all Holiday Inn properties in central and east Saudi Arabia, in addition to his role as general manager of the Holiday Inn Riyadh Minhal. His position covers Holiday Inn hotels in Olaya Riyadh, and Dammam, and new properties under development in Al Khobar, Hofuf and Hafr Al Batin.

Hamarneh will have the support of Nabil Hijazi, who has been appointed general manager of the new Holiday Inn Al Khobar, due to open in October and will take charge of preparations for the opening of another new Saudi hotel, the Holiday Inn Resort Half Moon Bay, in May next year.

Hijazi has an impressive record of management experience in the hotel industry working at the Hotel Inter-Continental Jordan in Amman, as well as Holiday Inn properties in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Kevork Deldelian, who previously held senior positions at Crowne Plaza hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as the former Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, has been appointed general manager of the 150-room Holiday Inn Hofuf, which opens in March next year, becoming the brands 10th property in Saudi Arabia.

Mohamed Yasine, who has extensive senior management experience in the United States, at Holiday Inn properties in Memphis and New Jersey, becomes general manager of the Holiday Inn Hafr Al Batin, another of the new wave of full service hotels in Saudi, opening in September.

Ashraf Khalil, who has 18 years Holiday Inn experience, now becomes the general manager of the Holiday Inn Resort Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt..

Also in Egypt, Maurice de Rooij, has been appointed general manager of the Holiday Inn Resort Safaga Palace. A graduate of both the Hotel Management School Maastricht, and Cornell ESSEC, he has had extensive experience in the Asia Pacific hospitality industry.

Ahmad Maher, backed by 20 years Holiday Inn experience, and previously general manager of Holiday Inn properties in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain takes charge of the Holiday Inn Amphoras Resort, in Sharm El Sheikh, which opens in August
