OneLoyalty Introduces the first-ever CASH-BACK loyalty programme for Travellers

Travel News Asia Date: 20 April 2001

OneLoyalty, the world-leading provider of end-to-end Customer Value Management (CVM) solutions and services, will be launching the region's first cash-back loyalty programme for travellers, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board. Targeted mainly at frequent visitors from around the region, this loyalty programme makes history as the first-ever to use a smart chip-based loyalty card which is able to offer instant cash-back rewards in both the physical and virtual worlds interchangeably.

The Traveller's Card from OneLoyalty is a real dollar cash-back programme. With every transaction made at any of the participating merchants physical or virtual - cardholders will earn an instant cash-back of up to 19.5 per cent. The cash-back is registered immediately onto the cardholder's smart card account, and can be used for the next transaction.

Cardholders may also prefer to accumulate ample cash-back on their cards to make entirely cashless purchase. As a welcome gift, there will also be e-coupons worth more than S$100 stored in the smart card account for the cardholders to enjoy immediately.

"The programme gives extra incentives to cardholders while they are travelling physically or virtually, thus making the Traveller's Card from OneLoyalty an invaluable lifestyle accessory," said Mr Nick Fung, CEO of OneLoyalty. "It benefits not just the travellers, but participating merchants and the entire travel industry for the region. It is truly a win-win situation for everyone."

The programme has started in April 2001, focusing on rewards at physical merchants in Singapore. With the support of close to 300 participating merchants, cardholders will now be able to truly "live" the Singapore experience. They are now able to shop, dine and have fun the way Singaporeans have always done so ? at a privileged price. In the near future, the programme will be extended to establishments around the region and those who are listed on the Internet. This expansion will transform the Traveller's Card from being just a Singapore-only reward programme to that of a cross-border reward programme, allowing the cardholders to enjoy cash-back rewards both at home and abroad, in both the physical and virtual worlds. Loyalty reward points earned in a physical merchant outlet can be used as "cash" to offset against his next purchases at any participating virtual merchant, and vice-versa. This unprecedented flexibility provides cardholders the best of both worlds with maximum convenience.

"STB has always been in the forefront of promoting tourism," said Ms Chee Lay Hong, Area Director, Asia, Singapore Tourism Board. "With OneLoyalty's Travellers card, visitors especially from the region stand to enjoy more benefits which will enhance their experience in Singapore. Truly, it has never been easier to Live it Up! in Singapore," she added.

The Traveller's Card is available through OneLoyalty's regional offices and selected travel agents in the region. Currently, selected Indonesian, Thai and Malaysian Travel agencies are selling the cards. By the end of this year, the Traveller's Card shall be made available in major cities in Asia.
