APPOINTMENT OF AREA DIRECTOR, PHILIPPINES AND GENERAL MANAGER AT BAYVIEW PARK HOTEL

Century International Hotels has appointed Mr Gerhard Zimmer as Area Director, Philippines and General Manager of Bayview Park Hotel Manila. Apart from overseeing all hotel operations and development of the 275-room hotel situated along the famous Roxas Boulevard in the heart of the city’s tourist district, Mr Zimmer is also responsible for the other three Century hotels in the Philippines — Primetown Tower Makati, Citadel Inn Makati, and Imperial Palace Suites Quezon City.

Mr Zimmer, a German national, brings to Century invaluable experience spanning over three decades, in Asia. He was most recently the Director of Operations – Greater China at Accor Asia Pacific, responsible for the growth of the Accor network in China. During his Term, the number of operating hotels grew from three in 1997 to ten in 2001. In September 1999, he played a major role in establishing the Accor China office based in Shanghai.

Mr Zimmer has extensive experience in the re-branding and opening of hotels. From October 1994 to May 1997, as General Manager of Grand Boulevard Hotel and Vice President Operations for Grand Hotels & Resort Group, he was responsible for re-branding the hotels that became Accor hotels in November 1995. He was also instrumental as Director of Operation in the successful opening of Novotel Atlantis in Pudong, Shanghai in 2001, and as General Manager of the Sofitel Hyland, Shanghai in 1993. Prior to this, he was the Opening General Manager for The Sheraton Lagoon Nusa Dua Beach Resort in Bali, Indonesia and the Pacific Star Hotel in Guam, USA.

Century International Hotels currently manages 16 hotels and resorts in six Asian countries − China and Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
