Travel News Asia Date: 19 July 2001

New chalet retreat provides perfect escape for families and executives in UAE’s garden city

The Hotel Inter-Continental Al Ain opens its new chalet complex next month, boosting its appeal to UAE and GCC families, and business executives.

From August 1, the 200-room hotel, in the UAE’s garden city, owned by the National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCTH), will offer guests a choice of 22 studio apartments that can be interconnected, two bedroom chalets, or luxury semi-detached villas.

“The chalets are situated in our beautifully landscaped gardens and are fully furnished with a kitchen, living room, full business facilities, terrace, private parking and garden,” said Antoine Berberi, general manager, Hotel Inter-Continental Al Ain. “They also feature a separate entrance and check-in, providing guests with extra privacy and security.”

The three chalet blocks consist of 16 junior apartments in block C, four suites in block A, and two luxury suites in block B which include two bedrooms with en-suite bathroom, jacuzzi and balcony.

“The chalets are perfect for luxury weekend breaks, honeymooners and families, as well as business executives and conference organisers,” said Berberi, “And guests can enjoy the high standard of service associated with Inter-Continental hotels worldwide.”

The new development will also offer a jogging track, gazebo, fountain and barbecue area, as well as easy access to the hotel’s existing recreational and children’s facilities.

Located 90 minutes from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and five minutes from Al Ain town centre, the Hotel Inter-Continental Al Ain is set in secluded and peaceful gardens, offering guests a choice of three speciality restaurants, English pub, pool bar / restaurant, a tea lounge and two night-clubs.

The hotel also has an expert guide, who uses his local knowledge to take guests on fascinating tours of Al Ain. The tours include organised visits to one of the highest points in the UAE, Jabel Hafit mountain, the Al Ain museum, camel market, Ain Al-Faydah Rest House, with its own deep pool of natural boiling water replenished from underwater springs, a palm and fruit grove oasis, and the area’s many souks.

The hotel, one of seven Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties in the UAE managed by Bass Hotels & Resorts, also boasts extensive recreational facilities including Olympic size, free-form and children’s swimming pools, four tennis courts, two squash courts, children’s playground, games rooms, crèche, fully equipped health club and massage treatments. Amenities for conference organisers include eight function rooms catering for up to 1000 people theatre-style.
