AWARD-WINNING HOLIDAY INN HOTEL TO OPEN IN DUBAI

Travel News Asia Date: 16 August 2001

Holiday Inn Bur Dubai becomes third Holiday Inn property in UAE and 61st in Middle East, Africa region

The UAE’s third Holiday Inn hotel opens in Dubai next month (September) as part of a major Holiday Inn development programme in the Middle East and Africa.

The Holiday Inn Bur Dubai, which has already collected an international Excellence in Engineering Award, will become the 61st Holiday Inn property in the region, with another 14 Holiday Inn properties currently under development.

“The Holiday Inn Bur Dubai highlights the many outstanding qualities offered by the new generation of Holiday Inn properties developing across the region,” said David Atkinson, area director, Holiday Inn sales and marketing, Six Continents Hotels, Middle East and Africa.

The hotel’s general manager, Robert Rosetti, said: “In true Holiday Inn tradition, we will develop close links with the local community, and become a focal point for business, social and leisure activities. We’ll also be offering business and leisure travellers impressive standards of service, and a full range of facilities, at highly attractive rates.”

The Holiday Inn Bur Dubai is located opposite the American Hospital in Dubai’s Oud Metha area, just 10 minutes from the airport. It establishes a Holiday Inn presence on both sides of Dubai’s creek, with the Holiday Inn Downtown already popular with business and leisure travellers.

Featuring a unique, Mediterranean-style atrium, with a grand marble staircase leading to the first floor, the Holiday Inn Bur Dubai has 240 beautifully designed guest rooms, including several suites, as well as an executive floor with its own lounge.

In-room facilities include multi-channel satellite TV, with interactive facilities allowing guests to receive messages, view bills, arrange wake-up calls, and use the internet. Diners have a choice of seven food and beverage outlets; three restaurants serving Italian, Lebanese and Mexican cuisine, a coffee shop, an English pub and café. Another of the hotel’s unique features is its range of rooftop facilities for guests and club members, including a health club, jogging track, outdoor swimming pool and bar, sauna, solarium, steam bath, massage and aerobics rooms.

Meeting and banqueting facilities include a ballroom for up to 450 delegates, for seminars, conferences, and social events, while a fully-equipped business centre offers office and secretarial services. The hotel also features a hairdressing salon and gift shop, and will provide limousine, car rental and mobile phone rental services, as well as entertainment and restaurant reservations.

The opening of the Holiday Inn Bur Dubai further strengthens Six Continents Hotels’ commitment to achieving excellence in all its brands, in every area of the world. Already the most global hotel company, with properties in close to 100 countries, Six Continents Hotels has developed a plan to further enhance that position through dramatic growth. The investment will entail adding new properties, renovating existing owned locations, and developing strategic mergers and acquisitions. Six Continents Hotels currently operates 117 Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties in the Middle East and Africa, with another 25 under development in the region.
