China Southern Airlines & Japan Air System Announce New Tokyo Service; Only Direct, Non-Stop Service Between Guangzhou and Tokyo Starts Oct. 29

China Southern Airlines (NYSE: ZNH) (HKSE: 1055) the largest airline in The People's Republic of China and Japan Air System (JAS) are pleased to announce the launch of new joint code-share, non stop service between Guangzhou and Tokyo beginning Monday, October 29.

The new Airbus A300-600 service, operated by JAS, will mark the only direct, non-stop service between the largest city in Southern China and Tokyo.

China Southern Airlines and Japan Air System, have been partners on the current Guangzhou/Osaka and Guangzhou/Fukuoka routes and "this new Airbus service between Guangzhou and Tokyo is a natural extension of our solid working relationship," according to Mr. Li Kun, Vice President, Marketing, China Southern Airlines.

Japan Air System will offer this new direct Guangzhou/Tokyo service every Monday and Friday and will be the third city in Japan with direct, non-stop service to Guangzhou. China Southern Airlines and JAS began direct code share service between Guangzhou and Fukuoka in early September 2001.

In addition to a vast array of connecting flights available on China Southern Airlines, passengers can also generate frequent flyer miles in The Sky Pearl Club, the fastest growing FFP program in China with more than 500,000 members.

The new service will originate in Tokyo on JAS with the flight numbers JD 255/CZ 766 and will depart at 10:00 a.m. and arrive in Guangzhou at 14:10. Return flights - JD 254/CZ 765 - will depart Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou at 15:35 and arrive at Narita International Airport at 20:35. All times are local.

China Southern Airlines' expanded partnership with Japan Air Systems is but another step the overall global strategic plan of the largest airline in The People's Republic of China - following code share agreements with Delta Air Lines in the United States; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in Amsterdam; Vietnam Airlines and Asiana in Korea.
