Travel News Asia Date: 15 November 2001

Ramada International Hotels & Resorts, a division of Marriott International, announced today that they have expanded their portfolio into India with the opening of the 87-room Ramada Hotel Raj Park Chennai earlier this month.

The hotel is owned by Hotel Raj Park Ltd. It is located in the central business district of Chennai, India’s fourth largest city. Chennai is situated on the southeastern tip of the Indian peninsula on the Bay of Bengal and is the primary gateway to southern India.

“We are delighted to bring the Ramada International brand to Chennai. India is such a large country with an untapped business and leisure travel market,” said Reas Kondraschow, senior vice president and managing director, Ramada International Hotels & Resorts.

For dining and entertainment, the hotel has two bars, a coffee shop and two restaurants. For meetings and social events, the Ramada Hotel Raj Park Chennai has one meeting room with seating for 200 people. Additional amenities include a florist and gift ship, fitness center, and sauna, indoor swimming pool and parking for 50 cars.

The Ramada Hotel Raj Park Chennai maintains Ramada International’s five pillars, which are: a restful sleep, an invigorating shower, a well-trained staff, an exceptional level of cleanliness, and the “Ramada Mornings Breakfast” – a selection that is hot, delicious and easy.

All of the hotel’s rates are listed in MARSHA, Marriott’s central reservations system, and are now bookable under the Ramada International GDS code NR in the Sabre, Worldspan, Amadeus and Apollo/Galileo systems as well as EM, for Every Marriott.

The Ramada Hotel Raj Park Chennai is the second Ramada hotel in India. There are currently 130 Ramada International hotels in 17 countries and territories.
