PAL adds flights for Lunar New Year

Travel News Asia Date: 15 January 2001

Philippine Airlines will operate additional flights between Hong Kong, Manila and Cebu, as well as between Taipei and Manila, to serve the needs of travelers during the busy Lunar New Year holidays starting next week.

Special turnaround flights between Manila and Hong Kong will be mounted on the following dates: an early morning flight (PR 340 / PR 341) on January 24, and an early evening flight (PR 350 / PR 351) on January 27, 28 and 29.

For the Cebu-Hong Kong vice-versa sector, a late evening flight is scheduled on January 27 and 28 (PR 366 / PR 367).

These flights are on top of the regular published services among the three points. The flag carrier flies five times daily between Manila and Hong Kong, and four times weekly between Cebu and Hong Kong.

In addition, PAL will operate a number of flights with special routings:

Manila-Hong Kong-Cebu, with onward connections to Manila, at various times on January 22, 23, 24 and 25.

Manila-Cebu-Hong Kong-Manila at various times on January 27, 28 and 29.

For the Manila-Taipei sector, PAL will add a second daily frequency on January 20, 21 and 28 (PR 898 / PR 899), as well as a third service (PR 892 / PR 893) on January 28.

Either widebody Airbus 330-300 or narrow-bodied Boeing 737-400 and Airbus 320-200 aircraft will be utilized on these extra flights.

The period preceding and following Lunar New Years Day, which this year falls on January 24, is one of the busiest times in the travel calendar.

It is a particularly special occasion for Chinese, who traditionally mark the holidays by vacationing in neighboring countries.
