SHARJAH TRAVEL AGENT GETS HIS DREAM TICKET IN DELTA - GALILEO EMIRATES JOINT COMPETITION

Travel News Asia Date: 15 August 2001

Delta's 'Global Quiz' competition in conjunction with Galileo Emirates gave Sharjah-based Ticketing Agent Sajjad Ahmed his dream tickets to the USA on time to celebrate his first wedding anniversary in style.

"A Delta employee called me with the good news. I couldn't believe it at first as I have never won anything in the past," said Ahmed. "It is like a dream come true."

The 27-year-old Pakistani consultant of Sharjah National Travel And Tourist Agency (SNTTA), answered correctly the quiz's ten questions and entered the draw together with 400 Dubai and Northern Emirates travel agents. He has won a pair of Delta economy class tickets between Dubai and anywhere in the continental USA.

"It's the first time I have won in a competition, and it's going to be the first time I go to the States. In fact this is going to be my first long-haul flight ever.

"I just got married a few months ago and I plan to use these tickets to go to Miami on our first wedding anniversary, on February 18th next year," said a delighted Ahmed.

He received his prize by Richard Michaels, Commercial Director, Delta Air Lines, UAE.

"The competition aimed at educating local travel agents on the USA's largest transatlantic carrier's thrice-weekly, Dubai - New York JFK service launched last month," said Michaels. "It is also a small token of our appreciation to the local travel agencies which generate the vast majority of the route's combined sales," said Michaels.

This time, only Galileo Emirates users, almost 80% of the UAE market, were eligible to participate.

The 'Global Quiz' was the first in a series of interactive activities Delta is planning to introduce for the travel trade in the coming months as part of its ongoing promotional campaign.

"We will continue to provide the travel trade with incentives through competitions, familiarisation and product awareness trips," said Michaels.
