GALILEO INTERNATIONAL’S VIEWPOINT™ 2.5 LAUNCHES ON TRAVEL AGENTS’ DESKTOPS

Travel News Asia Date: 14 March 2001

Business Processes Streamlined; CarMaster™ Inside Availability® Fully Supported;

Calendar Shopping Tool Enhanced

Galileo International, Inc. (NYSE: GLC), a leading provider of electronic global distribution services for the travel industry, today announced its latest release of Viewpoint™, version 2.5. The industry-leading graphical user interface (GUI) travel management booking solution, Viewpoint 2.5, streamlines business processes, ticketing and document production, gives complete access to Galileo’s CarMaster™ Inside Availability®, and provides further enhancements to the popular Calendar Shopping Tool. Viewpoint 2.5 will be deployed to agencies worldwide in March.

“Viewpoint 2.5 marks the third enhancement of the product in less than 13 months,” said Jennifer Dressler, vice president, Product Marketing. “By incorporating many time-saving functions on the front- and back-end of the application based on customer feedback, we are not only committed to bringing to market the most advanced, user-friendly, travel management GUI, but one that consistently meets and surpasses the needs of our customers.”

Expanded Benefits

Along with making day-to-day ticketing and document production processes easier to administer, accurate documentation printing has been simplified, resulting in agents no longer having to remember the more than 70 different ticketing modifiers. In addition, version 2.5 provides agents with a greater means to increase productivity, by letting them perform necessary functions to a Passenger Name Record (PNR) in Viewpoint when working on reservations pending in a “queue” status. Currently, agents have to toggle between Viewpoint and Focalpoint® to perform work on PNRs in queue. An additional enhancement gives agents the ability to work on multiple PNRs simultaneously by allowing them to switch between agent assembly areas.

Viewpoint 2.5 also fully supports CarMaster Inside Availability. Corporate discount and frequent renter numbers can be added to requests, allowing the Inside Availability participant to return the best rates and rate details to the agent’s desktop. Viewpoint 2.5 shows inclusive rates. Other features now available include: support for specific one-way rentals and drop-offs; the ability to identify car suppliers by alternate names for specific markets; and the ability for an agent to see if modifications to a reservation are available before a commitment is made to the modified segment.

The Viewpoint Calendar Shopping Tool also has been modified to accommodate requests for Private Fares II™, allowing for easy access to both published and private airline fares. “Viewpoint has already helped transform the way travel agencies around the world do business,” said Ken Stone, vice president, Global Subscriber Marketing. “The efficiency of Viewpoint 2.5 on the front- and back-end of the travel transaction, gives agencies more time to concentrate on delivering superb customer service – the benchmark for a successful transaction.”

Agents around the world are embracing Viewpoint at an incredible rate, topping more than 28,000 agencies using the software tool, with more than 1,000 new locations deployed every month. Accompanying version 2.5 is the Touring Viewpoint quick start tool that now is available in ten languages: Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese, French, German, Italian, European Spanish and American English. Translation of the popular Viewpoint Help feature also will be available in the second quarter in the same ten languages.
