ANA Group Winter Holiday Season Passenger Traffic Forecast

All Nippon Airways (ANA), announced passenger bookings for the ANA Group airlines, ANA, Air Nippon (ANK), Air Japan (AJX) and Air Hokkaido (ADK) for the winter holiday season period from Saturday, December 22 through Sunday, January 6.

The winter holiday season for vacationers in Japan begins during the three-day weekend beginning Saturday, January 22 that includes the celebration of the Emperors birthday through the end of the New Year holiday vacation period, Sunday, January 6.

A summary for the period under review may be found below.

1. DOMESTIC PASSENGER BOOKINGS

Total reservations - Approx. 2,032,000, (ANA Group: ANA + ANK + ADK) - 0.7% more than the same period a year ago

Peak reservations (ANA) Departing 12/29, 12/30 Returning 01/05, 01/06



After the September 11 Attacks, demand for domestic travel had slumped slightly but reservations for the period under review recovered edging up 0.7% as compared with the previous year. Notably reservations to Okinawa, where passenger traffic had significantly dropped after September 11, have been robust as are flight reservations to other destinations.



2. INTERNATIONAL PASSENGER BOOKINGS

Total reservations - Approx. 172,000 (ANA Group: ANA + AJX + ANK) - 22.8% less than the same period a year ago

Peak reservations (ANA)- Departing 12/29, 01/06

Returning 01/03, 01/05



On international operations, reservations dipped 22.8% during the period, reflecting a decrease of 16.1% in the number of seats available. Demand for trans-Pacific service to the United States has begun to recover as reservations to Honolulu are almost level with the previous year. Reservations to Southeast Asia look to be very strong, in particular Thailand and Hong Kong are proving popular.
