Travel News Asia Date: 13 March 2001

The Westin Banyan Tree Bangkok Celebrates Arrival of The Heavenly BedSM

The Westin Banyan Tree is replacing its Westin Executive Floor beds with new luxurious beds - unlike any other in the hotel industry. Appropriately named The Heavenly Bed, local hotel guests will soon get their key to heaven when The Heavenly Beds are installed into its 50 suites in Year 2000. This installation is part of Westin Hotels & Resorts’ $30 million Heavenly Bed launch.

Sumptuous, stylish and plush, the all-white Heavenly Bed consists of ten layers of heaven: a custom designed Simmons Beautyrest pillow-top mattress set; a cozy down blanket; three crisp sheets; a comforter; duvet and five of the best pillows in the business. The bed was over a year in the making and now The Westin Banyan Tree is introducing with a series of events and promotion including Pyjama Hunt and Slumber party for clients.

Today, The Heavenly Bed arrives at The Westin Banyan Tree as well as other Westin hotels across North America, allowing travelers to enjoy their own private piece of heaven in each guest room,” remarked Mr. Andrew Jessop, General Manager of The Westin Banyan Tree. “The Heavenly Bed confirms Westin’s commitment to maintaining a standard of excellence and to providing guests with the ultimate hotel experience. It distinguishes Westin from all the other hotel brands and sets the pace for creating the ultimate guest room experience going into the new millennium.”

The Heavenly Bed represents Westin’s newest innovation. Westin has been setting the standard in guest services with innovative products since 1930 and has been regarded as an innovator and product leader in the industry. Other industry firsts for Westin include the first guest credit card (1946), 24-hour room service (1969), in-room voice mail for guests (1991) and Service Express, the first program allowing guests to request all hotel services with just one call (1994).
