Crowne Plaza Hainan Confirmed by Guinness as Largest Resort in China and the Largest Indoor Hot Spring Hydrotherapy centre in the world

Travel News Asia Date: 13 July 2001

The Shanghai Representative Office of Guinness World Records formally conferred to Crowne Plaza Hainan Spa & Beach Resort the distinction of being the largest resort in China and the largest indoor hot spring hydrotherapy centre in the world.

With a total of 1,054 rooms and almost 100,000 square meters of ground area, Crowne Plaza Hainan is a truly unique leisure destination located in the Qiongshan District of the tropical island of Hainan – a few minutes’ drive from Meilan International Airport and the city center of Haikou.

Surrounded by a vast expanse of beautiful landscapes, the resort is composed of five Mediterranean towers housing luxury serviced suites and banquet facilities overlooking the sea. Palm trees line an endless stretch of private beach, and soothing sounds of water fountains spectacularly set in the midst of Balinese, Thai, and Caribbean gardens provide a truly idyllic scene for relaxation of mind and body.

There are Grill and Barbecue outlets by the seaside, Noodle Shop, Chinese restaurant featuring authentic spicy Hunan and Cantonese dishes, Coffee Shop, lobby and poolside bars – all with a unique view of the resort’s tropical surroundings.

State-of-the-art business facilities are readily available throughout the resort, including an independent Convention Center, an Executive Lounge, and a 24-hour Business Center.

But perhaps the most magnificent feature of Crowne Plaza Hainan is its dedicated natural hot spring spa complex – the largest of its kind in the world.

Measuring over 6,200 square meters, Tea Tree Spa offers exclusive and holistic spa and beauty treatments utilizing the therapeutic properties of natural mineral hot spring. The luxurious complex covers 3 full floors with 4th and 5th level rooftop gardens, a Spa Mansion, and private garden pavilions. Its facilities include a fully equipped Hair and Beauty Studio; state-of-the-art Fitness Center with separate aerobics studio and cardio theatre; massage/treatment suites each with its own private Jacuzzi, shower and changing facilities; Watsu Massage Pool; Aqua Exercise Pool; Contrasting Hot & Cold Pools; male & female locker rooms with steam, sauna and Jacuzzi hot tubs; separate relaxation rooms for both men and women; indoor and outdoor health food restaurants; fresh juice bar; private consultation room; rooftop garden with meditation gazebo and exercise deck; retail space for spa and beauty products; and garden pavilions with spa suites.

Crowne Plaza Hainan also takes pride in its growing list of recreational and water sports amenities that include luxury yachts, jet skis, golf, windsurfing, parasailing, teambuilding activities, Fun Pub with exciting games, Mahjong rooms, and many other perks second to none throughout China.

Indeed, the unveiling of this tropical paradise is much awaited and talked about these days – a source of pride for all of Hainan as the largest resort in China and the largest indoor hot spring hydrotherapy centre in the world.
