Metropark Hotel - Hong Kong’s brand new contemporary hotel joins SRS-WORLDHOTELS

Travel News Asia Date: 11 October 2001

SRS-WORLDHOTELS, one of the world’s leading and most dynamic hotel marketing and representation consortia, has announced its latest member as Hong Kong’s brand new ultra-modern retreat, Metropark Hotel, which is owned by China Travel International Investment Hong Kong Limited and managed by China Travel Hotel Management Services H K Ltd. The 266-room Metropark, which is located in Causeway Bay and overlooks Victoria Park and Hong Kong’s spectacular harbour, joins SRS-WORLDHOTELS’ First Class category.

This exciting hotel could be described as Hong Kong’s first truly “contemporary” hotel, with an interior design that reflects the new ultra-modern style of hotels, which have become popular in cities such as London, New York and Sydney in the past few years.

One of the highlights of the hotel is an open-air rooftop swimming pool and jacuzzi, and rooftop gymnasium which both afford stunning panoramic views of Hong Kong. Food and beverage outlets include Vic’s – a sports bar, and Café du Parc, an open-kitchen concept fusion restaurant which offers a high quality but informal dining experience.

There are three categories of rooms: standard rooms, harbour view rooms and executive parlour suites, as well as one signature Metropark suite.

Parlour Suites will appeal to the style conscious traveller. Resembling fashionable lightly-furnished studio apartments, they feature an open “parlour” which acts as a bar area and a comfortable sitting area with sofa and chairs, Nakamichi cd/radio player, and luxury king size beds. The bathroom, which includes separate shower and oversized bathtub, is separated from the living/sleeping area by frosted glass panels.

Standard rooms and harbour view rooms are compact but extremely well-designed with luxurious marble bathroom fittings and a generous works space area, for executives on a more modest budget. All rooms offer free of charge broadband internet access.

Mr Roland Jegge, Vice President Asia/Pacific for SRS-WORLDHOTELS said. “We are delighted to welcome this highly individual and exciting hotel to our portfolio. We are confident that our extensive international sales and marketing network will assist this innovative property to carve out a special niche among business and leisure travellers to Hong Kong who favour a more contemporary hotel experience”.

Currently, SRS-WORLDHOTELS has almost 400 member hotels in its portfolio, representing over 70,000 rooms in 65 countries and 250 destinations worldwide. In 2000, SRS-WORLDHOTELS generated over 1.2 million room nights for its members and a total turnover of US$192 million – an increase of 17% over the previous year.

SRS-WORDLHOTELS’ Asia/Pacific operation has grown dramatically to 20 staff in four offices around the region. The company has over 50 properties in Asia/Pacific and SRS-WORLDHOTELS saw an increase of over 40% in it room night production from the Asia Pacific region in 2000.
