ACCOR JOINS VIETNAM AIRLINES’ GOLDEN LOTUS PLUS

Travel News Asia Date: 10 October 2001

Frequent flier programme adds value for Accor guests in Vietnam

Accor has signed a partnership agreement with Vietnam Airlines (VN) to participate in the airline’s Golden Lotus Plus frequent flier programme.

Effective from November 1, the deal will allow guest at Accor’s seven hotels in Vietnam to earn 500 points for each room night. These can then be redeemed for future stays at Accor hotels in Vietnam or for tickets on VN domestic and international flights.

Currently VN officially accepts members that have a permanent mailing address in Vietnam. This will be expanded during the first quarter of 2002 to key overseas markets where VN sales offices are located. Golden Lotus Plus is unique because membership is free to anyone 18 years old or above.

As a participating member Accor will also be able to take part in VN’s direct marketing campaigns to help boost sales at member hotels.

Accor Regional Director of Sales – Vietnam, Mr Lachlan Furnell, said working with Vietnam’s flag carrier presented a unique opportunity for Accor to increase brand awareness in the country and beyond.

“It aligns us with a key government organisation such as Vietnam Airlines which is such an integral part of the country’s tourism industry. This is an airline that we must partner with if we are to be successful here.

“From a sales and marketing point of view it gives an added incentive for our customer base in Vietnam to stay in our hotels.

“Golden Lotus Plus also has an impressive database of almost 15,000 members that we will be able to tap into on a quarterly basis.”

Accor’s existing network in Vietnam includes the historic Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, Sofitel Dalat Palace, Sofitel Plaza Saigon, Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, Novotel Garden Plaza Saigon, Novotel Dalat and Novotel Coralia Ocean Dunes Resort Phan Thiet.
