New General Manager for Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi

Travel News Asia 8 April 2004

Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts has appointed Majeed Khalil as general manager of the Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi.

A British national, Mr. Khalil has over 21 years experience in the hospitality industry where he held a number of managerial positions with international hotel chains around the world. Graduate in Business Studies from University of North London, his career started as management trainee with Grosvenor Victoria Hotels and spanned over Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.

At Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi, Mr. Khalil will oversee the last stages of the refurbishment plan that was started over 2 years ago, when Le Meridien took over the management of the property.

Talking about the re-branding, Mr. Khalil said: "We have a huge task ahead and that is positioning the newly branded hotel in the market. With its new identity as Le Royal Meridien topped with the opening of a new tower, new outlets and new lobby, this property is going to be a leader in the industry and not a follower".

His challenge is to bring forward the re-branding plans that will see the opening of 6 new outlets, 77 new rooms and suites, an entertainment centre and a state-of-the-art conference and banqueting facilities that will prove to be a favourite venue for weddings, launches, banquets and other exclusive events in the capital.

"Twenty-two years ago, I've joined the hospitality industry by coincidence; but it's my true affection and love for the hotels where I have worked that kept me going. I intend to apply the same policy at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi", he added.

Mr. Khalil is married and has two children.
