PT AWAIR relaunched as Low Cost Airline

Indonesian based airline, PT AWAIR International, is to take to the skies again. The airline will commence operations plying domestic routes in Indonesia beginning today. The airline will operate Boeing 737-300s, each with a 148 seat configuration.

PT AWAIR, a privately owned airline, had initially conducted scheduled commercial and charter services in Indonesia since June 2000, but suspended its operations in March 2002. The airline is being be re-launched as a low fare airline modeled after the success of its partner AirAsia Berhad.

AWAIR will adhere to a low cost business model, and will operate point to point flights within a 3 hours radius. The airline will also operate on a no frills, ticketless concept, where guests are issued with flight itineraries incorporating a unique booking number upon successful booking.

PT AWAIR will comprise a new management lineup headed by Sendjaja Widjaja, who has been appointed as President Director of AWAIR, and a team of experienced senior management and technical crew in the aviation industry. Pin Harris, the original shareholder, has been appointed as the President Commissioner of the company.

Moreover it will strengthen AWAIRs operations through the transfer of knowledge and skills, enabling higher standards of operations and allowing AWAIR to offer a quality product to the people of this great nation, Indonesia.
