PATA and ASTA offer discounts for Mart and Congress

Travel News Asia 29 March 2004

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) have teamed up to offer discounts to travel agents and industry suppliers who attend both the PATA Travel Mart in Bangkok, Thailand, September 22-24, and ASTAs World Travel Congress in Hong Kong, September 28-October 3.

Travel agents who attend both the Mart and the Congress can register for both conferences for just US$299 and are eligible for special air fares between the two shows.

Suppliers that exhibit at the Mart and the Congress will receive a 20% discount off trade show space at each show. Special shipping arrangements have been made for exhibitors going from Bangkok to Hong Kong. PATA exhibitors will also have a special section at the ASTA Congress and an opportunity to demonstrate their products one-on-one with travel agents.

PATA Managing Director-Events, Ms. Sheila Leong said that with only a few days between the meetings it made sense for travel agents from North America to maximise their time in Asia. "PATA Travel Mart offers the widest range of Asia Pacific travel products and services of all the contract trade shows in the region," said Ms. Leong. "Buyers from North America will be delighted at the variety of products available at both shows."

PATA President and CEO, Mr. Peter de Jong, will address a general session during the ASTA Congress. To make the link easier several pre-tour options have been organised for attendees going from the Travel Mart  to the Congress.
