Galileo increases Fare Guarantee Period

Travel News Asia 24 May 2004

Galileo International today announced it has increased its Fare Guarantee for subscribers from time of filing the fare to midnight local time in each of the 18 Asia Pacific markets it serves.

The extended Fare Guarantee complements Galileo's 360º Fares initiative, which provides state-of-the-art capabilities to price airfares, makes it easier for agents and airlines to load fares, and seeks to significantly reduce the number of Agent Debit Memos (ADMs) agents receive.

'Our extended Fare Guarantee supports the increased level of fares validation of our Galileo 360º Fares programme because it provides a longer time frame for agents to issue tickets against specific fare quotes, safe in the knowledge that there is no danger of receiving an ADM,' said Debi Ellison, Galileo's Senior Solutions Manager - Content for Asia Pacific. 'The Fare Guarantee applies from the time the travel agent files the fare through to midnight local time. If an agent tickets during that time, the fare is guaranteed. Currently no other GDS offers a longer guarantee consistently throughout the region than Galileo.'

'We welcome Galileo's extended Fare Guarantee because it will increase the productivity of our travel consultants and enhance accuracy for our automated ticketing functions,' said Greg Treasure, General Manager, Carlson Wagonlit Travel (Hong Kong). 'Our corporate customers will value the longer validity of quoted fares, which in turn will give them more flexibility in their travel arrangements.'
