Claviga appoints new Regional Director Asia Pacific

Travel News Asia 24 March 2004

Claviga, an international training and consulting provider to the hospitality, travel and leisure industries, has appointed Irene Chia as the new Regional Director of Claviga Asia Pacific.

A Singaporean by birth, Irene is based in Singapore, and is responsible for developing Claviga's entire portfolio of services across the region.

Irene Chia has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, holding sales and marketing positions with Meritus Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt, Summit Hotels and Bintan Resorts.

Training has been a common thread throughout Chia's career. She was one of the internal trainers during her time at Meritus and Hyatt, and prior to joining Claviga, Chia ran her own training and consulting company, Integral Training.

"Claviga presents an excellent opportunity for me to work with like-minded professionals," said Chia. "Companies in Asia Pacific recognise the need for good, high-quality consulting and training services. Claviga has a comprehensive range of consulting capabilities and training programmes to help these companies achieve their goals. I am delighted to be part of the Claviga team."

Claviga already operates globally, principally in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, the UK and the rest of Europe. Richard Hodgson, Claviga Managing Director, says that the appointment represents a strategic move for the company.

"I'm really excited that we're going to make an impact in this market as we further develop our international focus," he says. "The opening of a base in Singapore is just the start of an expansionary phase for the company."
