Michael Learns to Rock in Charity Concert at Laguna Phuket

Travel News Asia 20 May 2004

It’s not out of the blue, but it’s for sure that Danish pop band Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) will be painting your love at Laguna Phuket on 2 July 2004 (Friday) at 8.30pm.

MLTR, who have been invited to Bangkok to give a private performance for the Royal Family on 3 July, have confirmed to perform in a one-off public concert for charity at Laguna Phuket the night before their royal performance.

With global record sales in excess of 8 million units since their debut album in 1991, MLTR has wooed many fans with their repertoire of soft pop music. Their latest (sixth) album was launched in February this year, featuring ten ultra-melodic tracks, a dozen hand-crafted, catchy, great pop songs.

The trio, comprising singer and keyboard player Jascha Richter, drummer Kåre Wanscher and guitarist Mikkel Lentz, has agreed to donate the proceeds from their concert to charity. The proceeds will be contributed to worthy causes supporting leukemia patients in Thailand and AIDS victims in Phuket.

Tickets, priced at 500 Baht, 1000 Baht, 2000 Baht and 4000 Baht, will be available from 7 June at Laguna’s Canal Village Shopping Centre.

As a special bonus, the 4000 Baht tickets (with VIP seating in the first two rows) will get guests a pass to an after-show cocktail party at Dusit Laguna Resort to meet the band.

The Laguna Phuket has said it expects this charity concert to be a sell-out event, and advises interested parties to book tickets early to avoid disappointment.
