Peter Watson, one of the best known and respected figures in the
Australian travel industry, has been appointed General Manager of the Concorde International Agency Group (CIAG), effective from 3 May.
CIAG is a coalition of independent and unbranded travel agents who benefit
from increased purchasing power through partnerships with Concorde International, one of Australia’s largest travel companies.
Mr Watson, who announced yesterday his departure from Jetset
Travelworld, will be responsible for expanding CIAG, and identifying new
ways to increase value for member agencies.
He will be based in Melbourne, and will report to Mr Russell
Carstensen, Concorde’s General Manager, Air Tickets Wholesale.
“This is a period of considerable changes and challenges for the travel
industry, and Concorde, along with all other travel companies, must evolve
to remain competitive,” said Mr Carstensen.
“Concorde International is exploring a wide range of options to strengthen
and grow its various business units, including CIAG.
“Peter Watson has the credentials and experience in retail travel
management to develop CIAG, without compromising the independence of partner agents, and will be given the resources to do so. I welcome him to
our team.”
