New General Manager for Galileo Philippines

Galileo International today announced the appointment of Eddie Nuque as General Manager for Galileo Philippines.

Eddie Nuque has worked in the Philippine travel and tourism industry for more than 30 years, and brings with him extensive knowledge and experience of the entire sector. Prior to joining Galileo, Eddie was managing Director of Kalakbayan Travel Systems Inc (KTSI), a company that created Lakbay.Net and Lakbay TV - a unique cable TV travel channel and online travel service website in the Philippines. He spent two years with Benpres Holdings Corporation as a consultant on tourism projects. He has also held general management posts with leading inbound and outbound travel companies in the Philippines, including Danfil Express, Baron Travel Corporation and Marsman Tours.

"Eddie's long and varied career in the travel industry will bring valuable knowledge and expertise to our operation in the Philippines and we are delighted he has joined us," said Janie Kaung, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Galileo's Asia Pacific region. "Not only will his experience prove extremely valuable, he is also a well-known and respected figure in the industry often participating in key local and international industry events, such as airline and tourism conferences, as well as seminars focusing on the growth of e-commerce in travel in the region. His appointment is further evidence of our commitment to the Philippine market and his leadership will reinforce our competitive position."

Eddie was Chairman of the Philippine Travel Mart Foundation (PTMF) from 1996 to 2003, and President of the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA) from 1993 to 1997. He is currently a consultant to two local governments in the Philippines: Cebu and Puerto Princesa.

Eddie Nuque studied at the University of the Philippines. He also completed a degree in economics at the University of the East and attended MBA courses at the Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business.
