The
Langham Place Hotel in Hong Kong today announced the following executive
appointments:
Jeffrey van Vorsselen, Hotel Manager
Jeffrey van Vorsselen joins the Langham Place Hotel with a wealth of experience
in the hospitality industry. He started his career in New Zealand 20 years ago with
a Management Trainee position and held various middle management positions
with different hotels in the country.
Mr van Vorsselen relocated to Windhoek, Namibia as Director of Rooms at the
Kalahari Sands Hotel in 1993. After a four years stint, he joined the Starwood
Hotels & Resorts and has since held positions of F&B Manager, Director of
Operations and General Manager.
As the Hotel Manager of the Langham Place Hotel, Mr van Vorsselen will be
assisting the Managing Director to take charge of the daily Hotel operations.
Jorgen Christensen, Director of Sales and Marketing
Jorgen Christensen has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing of
Langham Place Hotel. He also assumes responsibility for sales and marketing
activities at the Eaton Hotel Hong Kong.
Mr Christensen’s travel career started with Star Tour Fritidsresor, Scandinavia’s
largest tour operator, where he was a Destination Manager – a job that took him all
over the world. Before moving to China he was Director of Sales & Marketing at
the Sofitel Royal Angkor Hotel & Spa, Siem Reap in Cambodia. He also worked
with FPDSavills Hotels & Leisure in Hong Kong, where he managed the newly
created Hotel Consultant and Brokerage division, focusing primarily on Thailand,
Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and Singapore.
Mr Christensen, who has worked before in the development team with Langham
Hotels International (between 1996 and 1998 when it was Great Eagle Hotels Int’l),
rejoins the company after spending a year honing his spoken and written Mandarin skills at Beijing’s prestigious Qinghua University.
Teresa Poon, Director of Sales
Teresa Poon has been appointed Director of Sales of Langham Place Hotel. Ms
Poon started her career in the Hotel industry 17 years ago working in account
management. She joined the previous Regal Airport Hotel in 1991 as Assistant
Sales Manager and was promoted to Assistant Director of Sales.
Ms Poon was Director of Sales for the Regal Airport Hotel prior to joining the
Langham Place Hotel as Director of Sales. She is also the Secretary of the Hong
Kong Airport Managers Association, a position she has held since 2000.
The 665-room, 42-storey Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong, to be
located in the vibrant heart of urban Mongkok opens in Summer 2004. The Langham Place Hotel
forms the center piece of a mega 1.8 million sq ft development, Langham Place,
which encompasses a 300-shop mall and a 59-storey Grade A office tower. |
