Strato-Fantasia in Hong Kong to close September 15, 2003 with Special Performance

Travel News Asia 9 September 2003

To make this year's Mid-Autumn Festival truly special and colourful, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will add pyrotechnics to the nightly performances of Strato-Fantasia on the Wan Chai harbour front on 11 and 12 September. The pyrotechnic-enhanced performances, which are normally available during the weekends, tie in with the spectacular Mid-Autumn Lantern Celebration staged by the HKTB and will bring further excitement to visitors and residents with the dazzling combination of video, laser lights and water effects, all synchronised to music.

Visitors and residents will not want to miss the finale of Strato-Fantasia on 15 September, which will feature the premiere of the HKTB's new global advertising campaign - Hong Kong - Live it. Love it! They will be able to enjoy at the first opportunity, a two-minute television commercial starring Hong Kong Tourism Ambassador Jackie Chan, projected onto the world's largest stratosphere, prior to its broadcast on global television. Also added to the grand final performances will be specially enhanced pyrotechnic effects.

Strato-Fantasia is the first mega-event of the HKTB's Global Tourism Revival Campaign, designed to sustain Hong Kong's tourism revival and strengthen the city's position as the Events Capital of Asia. Since its launch on 17 August, the multimedia sound and light show has received rave reviews and become a must-see attraction for visitors and local residents. The possibility of  extending Strato-Fantasia was explored between the HKTB and the contractor but owing to the latter's other performance commitments, the show will come to an end on 15 September as originally scheduled. Until 15 September, there will be two performances each night at 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm. The best viewing location is near Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai.
