Mainland China's first JW Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments Opens

JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai and Tomorrow Square Marriott Executive Apartments Shanghai has officially opened its doors for business. Both properties, managed by Marriott Hotels International and owned by Shanghai Tomorrow Square Company Limited, are mainland China's first JW Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments, as well as being the region's flagship properties of Marriott Hotels International.

A low-key opening celebration was held to primarily thank the hotel's 500 opening team associates and the owning company representatives from Shanghai Tomorrow Square Company Limited for their contribution and hard work thus far. A grand opening ceremony for special guests is scheduled later this year.

The day patriotically commenced with the flag raising ceremony to the Chinese National Anthem, carried out by 10 of the hotel's associates. The ribbon cutting, headed by General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai and Tomorrow Square Marriott Executive Apartments, Mr Martyn Standen and  Chairman of Shanghai Tomorrow Square Company Limited, Mr Zhang Luo Min, was simultaneously cut by six other senior management representatives from the two companies. An auspicious key hand over ceremony followed,  with Director and General Manager of Shanghai Tomorrow Square Company Limited, Mr Liu Xian Qi handing over the key to Martyn Standen - symbolising the official opening of the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai and Tomorrow Square Marriott Executive Apartments. The senior management inaugurated the signing of a 6 metre x 0.9 metre scroll which will be signed by all 500 of the hotel's opening team.

As part of Marriott Hotels International Spirit to Serve the Community campaign, The JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai hosted a luxurious dinner for over 40 senior citizens from three old age people's homes in Shanghai to celebrate  the opening of JW Marriott Hotel on China's National Day.

Tomorrow Square is conveniently located in downtown Puxi, Shanghai and is part of an integral 60-storey multi-use development which comprises of a 342-room JW Marriott Hotel, a 255-unit Marriott Executive Apartment and 20,000 square metres of retail space. To date, Shanghai is the only city outside of the United States with the largest number of Marriott International brands - reiterating the importance of this vibrant and dynamic metropolis.
