KLM temporarily Suspends flights to Baghdad

Travel News Asia 5 August 2003

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is to temporarily suspend its flight operations to and from Baghdad, at least until commencement of the forthcoming winter schedule on October 26, 2003.

KLM said it reached this decision based on reports issued by the U.S. authorities in Iraq that allowing civilian air traffic to operate services to and from Baghdad would not be responsible under the current circumstances relating to safety at the airport in Baghdad.

Consequently, KLM has withdrawn its flights to and from Baghdad from its reservations system.
