High Speed Internet Access introduced in all Rooms at Hilton Hanoi Opera

Travel News Asia 4 July 2003

Hilton Hanoi Opera has introduced high speed Internet access in all of its 269 guest rooms, meeting rooms, and common areas, increasing connection speed to as high as 512Kbps.

This newest offering, is the result of a US$102,000 venture among Hilton Hanoi Opera, Vietnam Data Communication Company (VDC) and Vietnam Soft Promotion Joint-stock Company (SPV).

High speed Internet access is a service backed by VDSL (Very High Byte-Rate Digital Subscriber Line), a technological breakthrough that provides an incredible amount of bandwidth, thus enabling extremely fast connection, up to about 52Mbps - much faster than the regular cable modem  or ADSL, the two technologies currently dominating the IT industry speeding between 8Mbps and 10Mbps. With VDSL, users can leave their Internet connection open and still use the same phone line for voice calls. Other compatible on-line applications include VPN (Virtual Private Network), Video Conference, etc*

The offering is part of Hilton Hanoi Opera's comprehensive technology program, which lately has included the provision of Video Conferencing, Home Direct Calling Service, and in-room dial up Internet access.
