EIBTM 2003 approaches closing date for Press Awards submissions

Travel News Asia 19 March 2003

EIBTM, the annual global exhibition for the incentive, business travel and meetings industry, is to launch its first Press Awards at Palexpo Geneva, Switzerland, in May 2003.

The Awards aim to acknowledge the invaluable service and support the specialist meetings and incentive press provides to the industry. The first year’s award will recognise ‘Journalist of the Year’ from both print and electronic press worldwide. In subsequent years EIBTM will establish further categories of awards that will extend to publications, editors, types of articles and regional  winners. The presentation of the award will take place on the EIBTM stage during the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, 20 May 2003.

Jane Larcombe, PR Director for EIBTM, said: "We feel that the meetings and incentive industry could do far more to officially recognise the invaluable role the media performs. The press provide us with vital means to keep up-to-date with news trends and events and communicate with the rest of the industry.

The Journalist Award aims to encourage journalists to excel in the achievement of their craft and reward those writers who achieve outstanding results. The award will recognise individual journalists and  writers from both print and electronic press worldwide writing about our industry within the meetings, incentives and business travel press.

The awards are open to any journalist of any publication within the specialist meetings, incentive and business travel press that write about the industry.

The closing date for submissions is 31 March 2003.
