Macao Cancels 31st International Fireworks
Display Contest
|
Macao has cancelled the 31st International Fireworks
Display Contest which had been scheduled to take place in
September and October of this year.
Organized annually by the Macao Government Tourism
Office (MGTO), the Macao International
Fireworks Display Contest invites the best
fireworks teams from around the world to compete in Macao every year.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the MGTO
announced that, "After careful assessment and thorough
speculation of various factors, MGTO has decided to cancel the contest
this year and other outreach programs including the Student
Drawing Contest, Photo Contest, Fireworks Carnival and so forth."
The MGTO has also postponed the 8th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo
to 18-20 September and intends to reschedule the Macao
Light Festival, originally held every December, to an earlier
period between late September and October if conditions allow.
