American Airlines to Operate Repatriation Flights from Honduras and Brazil

American Airlines is to operate seven special flights between Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and four Latin American cities so that it can help to bring customers home in light of government travel restrictions related to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic.

The flights, from So Paulo (GRU) to DFW and from Honduras to DFW, will commence today, 26 March 2020.

The special flights are available for purchase with capped fares, to ensure that customers are able to take advantage of the service.

The airline will operate the following flights on 26 and 27 March:

The flights between DFW and GRU will also provide much needed cargo-capacity for pharmaceuticals, electronics and produce.

Flights from DFW to GRU are also available for purchase to assist in getting Brazilian citizens home, with flights operating on 27 March.

This week, American Airlines operated charters for the U.S. State Department from both Guatemala City, Guatemala (GUA), and Lima, Peru (LIM), to get U.S. residents home.

To further assist customers, American flew 71 ferry flights to the U.S. from several Caribbean destinations, including 14 flights from Montego Bay (MBJ) and three flights from Kingston (KIN) in Jamaica; five flights from Santo Domingo (SDQ), nine flights from Punta Cana (PUJ), one flight from Santiago (STI) and one flight from Puerto Plata (POP) in the Dominican Republic; four flights from Port-au-Prince, Haiti (PAP); 12 flights from Aruba (AUA); three flights from Bonaire (BON); three flights from Curaao (CUR); six flights from St. Maarten (SXM); eight flights from St. Lucia (UVF); one flight from Guadeloupe (PTP); and one flight from Martinique (FDF). Ferry flights flew without passengers to these islands and returned with customers looking to return home to the United States.

American Airlines has also extended its offer to waive change fees for customers who purchase travel through 15 April. Customers will have even more flexibility since any ticket purchased by 15 April will not incur change fees prior to travel. The offer is available for any of Americans published non-refundable fares. Any ticket purchased from 1 March at 16:30 CT through 15 April 2020 at 23:59 CT will not incur change fees prior to travel. This is available for any of Americans non-refundable published fares.
