Air New Zealand Extends Significantly Reduced
Network to 30 June 2020
|
Air New Zealand has extended the timeframe of its
significantly reduced network by a month, with minimal
international operations now set to continue through 30 June 2020.
In response to government travel restrictions and
increasingly low demand due to the COVID19 pandemic, the airline
had planned to limit its international network from 30 March to 31 May,
keeping only the most essential of air links open for travel and cargo movement on
key trade routes.
The airline has reduced its overall international capacity by
95% from pre-COVID19 levels.
The only long haul flights the airline will
operate are to to Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai (from 31
May) with three return flights, two return flights and three
return flights per week respectively.
Air New Zealand has stated that if Samoa, Tonga and Fiji
lift their restrictions on
international flights, it would likely operate one return service per week from Auckland.
