Elbit Systems to Showcase EFVS for Commercial Helicopters at Heli-Expo 2016

At the upcoming Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo 2016 exhibition, set to take place in Louisville, Kentucky from 1-3 March, Elbit Systems will present a range of cutting-edge solutions for the commercial helicopter market.

The company will present its unique display concept depicting “out of cockpit boundaries” solutions for helicopters. The wearable Head-Up technology combined with the multispectral Helicopter HeliEVS enables pilots to fly while looking outside of the cockpit all the time, enhancing safety and situational awareness.

The Elbit Systems’ booth is built to support this concept simulating various scenarios such as rig approach, EMS mission in snowy mountains and more are projected on a half transparent glass-screen that represents the “real world” environment. This creative display concept will provide visitors with a hands-on, real experience of the final configurations of the systems as they are used in actual flight.

The systems and products to be exhibited at the show include:

Helicopter Clearvision is the rotary wing version of the Clearvision next generation Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS). The solution is comprised of the HeliEVS camera and the Skylens wearable HUD or the SkyVis Helmet Mounted Display (HMD), in order to address both non-helmet and helmet users.

HeliEVS is based on the ClearVision EVS for fixedwing applications. The system is packaged in a single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), which autonomously performs the complete Enhanced Vision System capability. Functionality is accomplished through real-time image fusion between multiple sensors at multiple spectral bands.

Skylens is an ideal display solution for non-helmet users, packed in a lightweight, easy-to-install device, as intuitive as a pair of sunglasses. Operational in limited weather conditions, day and night, Skylens provides head-up information and minimizes dependency on airport instrumentation.

SkyVis provides helicopter pilots with a conformal “head up” view, displaying flight, vehicle and navigation symbology for day, night and NVG operation, in limited weather conditions. An add-on to the pilot’s own helmet, SkyVis is easily integrated with minimal footprint in the cockpit.

Elbit Systems will be at booth 6733.
