Conrad Koh Samui Appoints New Executive Chef

Conrad Koh Samui has appointed Woothigrai Mungjit as Executive Chef.

Woothigrai, or Chef Woody as he is commonly called, joins the Conrad Koh Samui team from the Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach Resort, where he held the position of director of culinary.

Prior to his tenure at the Pullman resort in Phuket, Chef Woody spent more than seven years as Executive Chef at two luxury resorts in Khao Lak, Phang Nga province and has also worked as Executive Sous Chef for more than two years at luxury resort properties on the Denarau Island in Fiji.

Originally from Phuket, he started his career in the kitchen in 1992 and has since gained many years of experience from hotels and resorts in Phuket, including 4 years as the restaurant chef at Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa.

“Koh Samui is known as the destination of culinary excellence and fine dining experience. We are sure that Chef Woody will bring some new exciting culinary experiences, combining the exotic touch of the southern-Thai cuisine recipe with the fine dining experience at Jahn, the resort’s award-wining restaurant, to our guests at all resort’s outlets,” said Conrad Koh Samui’s General Manager, Stefano Ruzza. “With his outgoing personality and wealth of knowledge in Thai cuisine, the resort’s Thai Cooking Class will surely become more popular for resort guests and luxury travellers visiting Koh Samui who wishes to learn the secret of Thai cooking techniques with freshest recipe from the Thai master chef.” 

Chef Woody graduated from Phuket Vocational College with High Vocational Certificate in culinary education.
