AirAsia has launched a promotion in Australia with fares to Asia from as low as A$99 one-way.

Travellers can fly to Kuala Lumpur from Adelaide and Perth for A$159 per person one-way; Gold Coast from A$169; and Melbourne and Sydney from A$179.

Some onwards one-way fares from Kuala Lumpur are as little as A$13 one-way.

Fares are available to Bali one-way from Darwin from A$99 and from Perth from A$119.

The Megasale fares are available for booking from today (25 August 2014) to 31 August 2014 with the fares valid for travel from 1 March 2015 to 24 October 2015.

AirAsia Commercial Head of Australia & New Zealand Stuart Myerscough said with increased capacity between Asia and Australia and strong airline competition, there had never been a better time to fly internationally.

With an increasing number of seats available for sale to Aussie travellers, airlines are becoming increasingly competitive. We are now seeing some of the most affordable overseas fares on the market for some time, he said. AirAsia is proud to offer some unbelievably competitive rates for travellers, with one way sale fares to Asia starting from just A$99 one way. In all 2.5 million seats will be on sale. Our ability to offer discounted fares is underpinned by AirAsia Xs strength in the market - recently adding extra capacity into Australia to take a market leadership position, and recording year on year revenue growth for the second quarter 2014 of 36.7%.

Some of the more than 100 destinations on sale include:

From the Gold Coast, fly one-way to Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok, Phuket, Phnom Penh and Singapore from A$209; Kota Kinabalu and Hanoi from A$229 and Tokyo from A$299.

From Melbourne, jet off one-way to Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh and Phuket from A$219; Bali from A$239, Tokyo and Seoul from A$289.

From Sydney, one-way economy flights to Langkawi and Penang are from A$219, Kota Kinabalu from A$239, Colombo and Nagoya from A$319, and Shanghai from A$359.

Mr Myerscough said the Megasale was an excellent opportunity for travellers who were planning their forward travel next year and wanted to snap up some low-cost airfares early.

AirAsia has significantly increased its fly-through connectivity, ensuring that passengers have a smoother travelling experience right through to their final destination, he said. Australians are taking advantage of this and were seeing a tripling in terms of passenger traffic between Australia and our North Asian destinations of South Korea and Japan.
