SiteMinder, an online hotel technology provider, has teamed with White Linen Boutique Hotel, a not-for-profit hotel that raises funds for victims of sex trafficking through The Daughters of Cambodia campaign.

The Daughters of Cambodia organisation specifically supports victims of trafficking in their efforts to leave the sex industry by providing employment, life-skills classes and counseling sessions, amongst other services.

White Linen Boutique Hotel, based in Phnom Penh, contributes to the campaign by employing former sex workers, as well as helping to fund the charity’s services.

Sadly, Cambodia has a significant problem with sex trafficking and child prostitution, with recent research by John Hopkins University showing that the number of individuals in prostitution in Cambodia ranges from 40,000 to 100,000 (30 to 35% of which UNICEF estimates are children).

“Using SiteMinder’s TheBookingButton has made an unbelievable difference to our success in using our website for direct bookings,” said Carrie Jussely, Manager at White Linen Boutique Hotel. “Since switching over to TheBookingButton we have seen a 60% increase in our direct bookings. SiteMinder have become an operational imperative for our property’s continued success.”

Humbled by the great work and partnership of Daughters of Cambodia and White Linen Boutique Hotel, the team at SiteMinder was compelled to support the cause by donating their hotel technology; TheBookingButton. Early results already show an increase in the number of direct online bookings, as well as a boost in revenue generated.

Glenn Andrews, Director of Sales & Marketing at SiteMinder, met the hotel’s management team at a SiteMinder education seminar about hotel distribution in Phom Penh. He stated, “I was appalled to learn about the prevalence of sex trafficking in Cambodia, and when I heard about the Daughters of Cambodia’s efforts to put an end to such atrocities, I was determined to help in any way I could. As soon as I informed the executive team about the hotel, they were happy to offer the complimentary use of our technology.”

Not only is White Linen Boutique Hotel helping to make a difference to the lives of the individuals who are assisted by their plight, they’re also providing a service for travellers who are in search of ‘home-away-from-home’ style accommodation. Their complimentary breakfast service, comfortable lounges and common kitchens make for a comfortable stay for families, couples and singles alike – a true sanctuary in the hustle and bustle of Cambodia’s capital city.
