Smiths Detection Wins U.S. Customs and Border Protection Order

Smiths Detection has won a five-year contract to supply X-ray scanners to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for its non-intrusive inspection program, aimed at protecting points of entry by land, air or sea.

The advanced scanners will cover a range of operations, from screening passenger baggage to examining cargo for contraband, including narcotics and weapons, as well as nuclear and radiological devices.

The order is part of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, which includes screening systems, accessories, warranties and training.
