Oakwood, a global provider of corporate housing
and serviced apartments, has promoted Martin Fluck to Director of
Operations for the Oakwood-branded serviced apartments in North
Asia.
Martin will report to PG Mathew, Oakwood managing
director, and will manage operations in China, Japan and South
Korea.
A yet-to-be-named director will lead operations
for South Asia, including India, Thailand and the Philippines.
In this capacity, Martin will strategically
manage operational excellence for 15 of the Oakwood-branded
serviced apartment properties. He will play a pivotal role in
driving productivity, improving service quality and establishing
strategic direction to achieve performance objectives.
With more than 30 years in the hospitality
industry, Martin has an outstanding record of accomplishment in
operations and management, with extensive experience in Asia.
Most
recently, he served as country manager for Japan, while at the
same time serving as the general manager for Oakwood Premier Tokyo
Midtown, the brand’s flagship property in Japan.
In 2006, he was promoted to country manager,
where he was responsible for seven properties in Japan. Martin has
twice been honored by Oakwood Worldwide as “General Manager of the
Year” in recognition of his outstanding achievements in 2005 and
2011. He joined Oakwood Worldwide in 2001 as a general manager and
successfully opened two properties in Tokyo – Oakwood Residence
Aoyama and Oakwood Apartments Shirokane.

Prior to joining Oakwood Worldwide, Fluck served
in various management positions with both Hilton Hotels & Resorts
and Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. He is a graduate of Ecole hôtelière de
Lausanne, an international hospitality management school in
Switzerland. Fluck will be based in Japan.
