Garuda Becomes an Official Airline of Liverpool Football Club

Garuda Indonesia and Liverpool Football Club have signed a Global Official Airline partnership which will continue for three seasons (2012 – 2015).

This exclusive deal renders Garuda Indonesia as the Global Official Airline for Liverpool. This means that, whenever Liverpool tours to destinations that are served by Garuda - especially in Asia and Australia - it will enlist the services of Garuda Indonesia, as its official airline.

The agreement also offers Garuda Indonesia the opportunity to carry out a marketing communication campaign by using some of the Liverpool FC’s facilities, such as the LED boards positioned around the edge of the pitch at Anfield stadium during home games which will be broadcasted on top TV networks to international viewers all over the world.

In addition, the partnership gives Garuda Indonesia access to reach 10 million Liverpool fans through Liverpool’s official Facebook account and 1 million Liverpool’s Twitter “followers”.

Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Emirsyah Satar, said, “We are very pleased to join up with Liverpool Football Club. They are one of England’s best football clubs and is already a well-known global brand, with fans and supporters all over the world, including in Indonesia. Liverpool, You’ll Never Walk Alone (YNWA).”

Liverpool’s Managing Director, Ian Ayre, said, “Liverpool has fans all over the world, and we are ready to work together with Garuda Indonesia and assist in their rapid growth. We are honored to join forces with one of the best brands in the global aviation industry, especially a brand that comes from a country that has a strong and unique fan base that we are very proud of.”

This collaboration with Liverpool will give Garuda Indonesia the media exposure it needs to effectively increase its international brand awareness.

Next year, Liverpool plans to visit several countries on its tour of Asia, including Indonesia.
