Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Thursday, 5 January 2012

Abu Dhabi Airports Company and DFS, a leading duty free luxury retailer catering to travelling public, have launched a major initiative to support the ‘Hand in Hand for Haiti’ foundation that was set up following the catastrophic earthquake that hit the country in January 2010.

In the travel retail industry over 50 airports and duty free retailers and suppliers have contributed to the Hand in Hand for Haiti programme, making it the cornerstone of the duty free industry’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Abu Dhabi Airport passengers will be able to participate in a dedicated raffle draw at Terminal 1 with a chance to win the latest 2012 model Volkswagen Tiguan by purchasing a ticket at a cost of 50 AED (US$ 13.62). The draw will be held in the first quarter of 2012.

“Since the launch of the dedicated raffle draw, passenger response has been fantastic and has exceeded our expectations. Passengers are keen to play a role in this great cause while at the same time entering the raffle draw for a chance to win,” said Dan Cappell, Senior Vice President Commercial of ADAC. “This is a win-win situation for all parties involved but, most importantly, ADAC is glad to be able to help provide schooling for children in Haiti through the Hand in Hand for Haiti foundation which is building a world-class educational facility in the country. Passengers passing through Terminal 1 are also exposed to the foundation and its efforts.”
