dnata, one of the world’s largest air services providers, has appointed Mark Edwards as its CEO for the company’s Singapore operation.

Mark is replacing Georgie Ong, who is retiring after more than 30 years with the operation.

Mark has more than 30 years of experience in the air services industry and has worked in some of the world’s busiest airports including London Heathrow, Munich, Bangkok and London Gatwick. He has successfully managed all aspects of airport ground support operations, including: ground handling, aircraft fuelling and aircraft cleaning activities.

The posting will be effective as of June 2012; prior to his appointment with dnata, Mark was the Senior Vice President at Aircraft Service International Group based out of the USA, where he was responsible for the worldwide business development of the company.

“Of course it is always a great challenge to replace a leader with as much industry experience and respect as Georgie Ong,” said Gary Chapman, President of dnata. “Mark is a welcome addition to the dnata team. His broad experience and leadership qualities will bring added strength to the Singapore operation and we certainly look forward to working with him”.

In his new role as CEO for dnata in Singapore, Mark will be responsible for overseeing and developing dnata’s ground handling, cargo and catering operations at Singapore Changi Airport. This will include the management of some 1,750 staff and 53 airline customers.
