Jetstar Japan (GK), a new low cost airline that
began domestic operations earlier this year, has signed a global
distribution agreement with Amadeus that will provide travel
agents with worldwide access to the new airline's range of fares,
domestic schedules and inventories.
“This agreement will make our low fares easily
accessible to travel agents in Japan and will provide more choices
for Japanese travellers,” said Miyuki Suzuki, Jetstar Japan CEO. “Accessibility is key to the low fares
revolution in Japan and Jetstar is taking a leadership role by
working with partners to make our low fares available to more
people so they can fly more often.”
Travel agencies worldwide will access Jetstar
Japan content through the Amadeus Selling Platform. Consultants will have access to the same content as
provided by the airline to all other third party travel booking
systems in the market.
The addition of Jetstar Japan will be the latest airline in the
Jetstar Group already available to Amadeus users. These include
Jetstar Australia and New Zealand, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Pacific
and Valuair. This new agreement will add to the 70 low cost
carriers (LCC) already available in the Amadeus system.
Miho
Ohtake, General Manager, Amadeus Japan, said, “We are excited to
be the first global distribution system to offer the rich content
of Jetstar Japan. The Jetstar group of airlines is an increasingly
important low cost option for travellers across Asia Pacific and
this agreement will ensure travel agencies have access to
essential low cost travel options right at their fingertips.”
