For travelers interested in learning about the connection between the land and food, the new Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta is offering an unique educational opportunity to visit a local farm with its Experience Farming package.

In partnership with Daron Joffe (known as Farmer D), founder and president of Farmer D Organics in Atlanta, guests of Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta can enjoy a day trip to Burge Plantation located an hour from the hotel.

Once there, guests will engage in a variety of farming activities, such as picking fruit and tending to vegetable gardens.

The farm field day begins with a farm-to-table breakfast at the hotel’s Café & Bar restaurant where Farmer D will share his experiences as an organic farmer and talk about sustainability, food and agriculture.

Following a drive to Burge Plantation, Farmer D will then teach the day’s activity followed by lunch provided by the hotel for guests to enjoy.

Suitable for singles, couples and families, the Experience Farming package includes:

• Accommodation for two nights
• Farm-to-table breakfast at the hotel
• Luxury car transfer to the farm
• Hands-on farm activity
• Boxed ‘lunch and learn’ with Farmer D
• Gardening tool gift provided in-room

The package is priced from US$ 870 per night in a Deluxe guestroom, based on a two-night stay with double occupancy and valid through 30 September 2013.

“We are delighted to partner with Farmer D who has a passion for farming and empowering people about growing healthy food,” said Robert Lowe, general manager, Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta. “Our guests will enjoy an incredible and memorable hands-on farm experience.”
